Alpha terpineol is a kind of terpene alcohol of mixed of isomeric terpineol, obtained by dehydration of terpine hydrate. It is composed predominantly of alpha terpineol, which is the only fragrant substance in the isomers, with lesser amounts of gamma, beta and delta terpineol. At normal temperatures, it is a water white, oily liquid or crystalline with a pleasant floral odor. Its excellent solvency and surface active properties accounts for its usefulness to many fields and industry.
